Total French Batches from 2014-2026

Most Indian PR applicants score between 450 and 470 CRS points. Your IELTS score is good, your work history is documented, and your Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) is approved. Yet, the cutoff is 30 to 50 points higher, and the next general draw won’t help. The quickest way for you to improve your score is to learn French and reach NCLC 7 on the TCF Canada test.
In my 15 years of teaching French, I’ve seen many mid-CRS profiles receive an ITA (Invitation to Apply) in the French-category draw right after they pass the TCF. This happens because the cutoffs for French-speaking candidates are usually lower than those of general draws. The TCF Canada is your key to entering this category. Keep in mind that aiming for NCLC 7 in French requires focused preparation; it’s not something you can learn from casual weekend YouTube videos.
LanguageNext is a French institute in Sector 18, Noida, with over a decade of teaching experience. We have trained more than 2,400 learners. Our TCF Canada program focuses on the exact task formats used by France Éducation International, finds your weakest skill, and helps you practice that skill intensively. You can join us in person at our Noida center or online from anywhere in India, Canada, or other countries. The curriculum, materials, and trainers are the same for both options.
What is TCF Canada, & How it matter for Canadian PR?
TCF Canada (Test de connaissance du français pour le Canada) is an official French-language test. France Éducation International (FEI), part of the French Ministry of Education, conducts the test through the Alliance Française and associated institutions. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) accepts Express Entry scores for Provincial Nominee Program streams, Quebec selection, and Canadian citizenship applications.
TCF Canada shares a similar design to the DELF and DALF exams, since FEI administers all three. It focuses on real-world communication and follows the CEFR scale (A1-C2). The test is the same across all test centers worldwide. If you have prepared for the DELF B2 course, you will find the question style of TCF Canada familiar from the first mock test.
The exam measures four skills separately. You will get scores for reading and listening out of 699, while writing and speaking scores range from 0 to 20. There is no overall score. Your lowest skill score determines your final NCLC level, so it’s important to prepare well in all areas instead of focusing on just one.
An NCLC 7 score in all four sections, paired with at least CLB 5 in English, unlocks 50 extra CRS points under the Express Entry French bonus. NCLC 7 also makes you eligible for IRCC’s French-language category-based draws, which have repeatedly seen cutoffs over 100 points below general rounds.
Four sections are mandatory:
| Section | Format | Duration | NCLC 7 Threshold |
|---|---|---|---|
| Listening (Compréhension orale) | 39 MCQs, audio played once | 35 minutes | 458–502 / 699 |
| Reading (Compréhension écrite) | 39 MCQs | 60 minutes | 453–498 / 699 |
| Writing (Expression écrite) | 3 tasks (message, report, opinion) | 60 minutes | 10–11 / 20 |
| Speaking (Expression orale) | 3 tasks (intro, dialogue, monologue) | 12 minutes | 10–11 / 20 |
The total exam time is 2 hours and 47 minutes. You will take the listening and reading sections on a computer at the test center. The speaking section will be a face-to-face interview with an examiner. There is no negative marking for incorrect answers. The 7 NCLC thresholds mentioned are confirmed in IRCC’s language testing reference.
In my classroom experience, many candidates struggle with Writing Task 3, the opinion piece. The reading and listening sections reward regular preparation. But, TCF writing requires you to state your opinion, support it with structured arguments, and finish in about 20 minutes. The same challenge applies to Speaking Task C, which is a no-prep monologue.
Both of these tasks benefit from focused practice with examiner feedback, rather than just passive study of grammar. Our SWIRL method provides this approach, similar to what works for the DELF B2 level sections.
Our Focused Program to Pass the TCF Canada exam
LanguageNext has over 15 years of experience in teaching French. We use a practical, focused approach to help students and professionals. We offer a wide range of full courses for DELF exam and TEF Canada preparation classes.
Studying for an immigration French exam is very different from learning conversational French. You need a curriculum that targets the exact tasks FEI builds into TCF Canada, not a generic A1-to-B2 syllabus. Our program is engineered for that.
When I worked with a software engineer from Greater Noida last year, his CRS score was 462. His listening was already at NCLC 6. His writing was the weak link. We mapped his timeline backward from the cutoff he needed to clear, then spent 60% of class hours on TCF-style writing tasks with examiner-graded feedback. He hit NCLC 7 across all four sections in 11 weeks of part-time study. His ITA came in a few months later.
Here’s what makes our program different:
- Offline support in Noida and live online anywhere via Zoom
- Small batches of 4 to 6 learners for genuine speaking time per session
- Flexible timings for working professionals
- Live instruction across all four TCF sections, never recorded videos
- Our SWIRL method (Speaking, Writing, Interaction, Reading, Listening)
- Real exam strategies tied to FEI’s actual scoring rubric
- Weekly performance tracking with section-wise score targets
- Vocabulary banks built around the exam’s recurring themes
- Schedule flexibility for working professionals
- Custom PDF study materials to help you study
- Audio drills and 250+ hours of native French for listening
- Full-length timed mock papers modeled on past TCF Canada papers
- Examiner-style feedback on every speaking and writing attempt
- Free doubt-clearing sessions for difficulty or missed classes

Why choose LanguageNext as your preferred TCF Canada Coaching
Most language schools treat French as one of many subjects. We don’t. French is what we built the institute around in 2014, and that focus shapes every batch we run.
One French trainer for full preparation
The teacher who starts you at A1 is the same one who walks you through B2 mock tests. No mid-course reassignments. No inconsistent feedback. No relearning a new teacher’s correction style every two months.
Honest pricing for TCF Canada
The full TCF Canada course is priced level by level with no hidden top-ups. Study materials, audio lessons, mock tests, and revision sessions are all bundled in. You pay for the levels you enroll in, nothing more. Installment plans are available.
Small in-person live batches of 4 to 6
Every learner speaks in every class. With 4 to 6 people in the room, you cannot hide in the back. Speaking practice is where most TCF candidates lose marks. Small groups force the daily practice you actually need to clear NCLC 7.
Choose Offline, Online & Hybrid
Walk into our Noida center for live classroom interaction. Or join our live online French classes from anywhere. Or pick a hybrid model that combines both, depending on your week. The course remains the same across all three modes.
Why Choose LanguageNext for the TCF Canada exam
TCF Canada has its own scoring quirks, its own task formats, its own examiner expectations. Generic French teaching does not get you to NCLC 7. Here’s how we close that gap.
15+ years of French teaching, hundreds of TCF outcomes
I’ve taught French since 2010, and our institute has had 2,400+ learners since 2014. That experience translates directly into TCF coaching. We know which question types repeat, which writing prompts come up, and which speaking errors examiners penalize hardest. You don’t have to discover those patterns yourself.
NCLC 7 strategy, not a generic French language study
Most institutes teach a flat A1-to-B2 syllabus and hope it covers TCF. We work backward from your target NCLC. Every class targets a specific section weakness, a scoring criterion, or a task pattern. You learn what FEI examiners reward, so your preparation stays focused and result-oriented for Canada immigration.
Authentic TCF Canada mock tests with section analysis
You’ll sit timed mocks that replicate the real exam: 39 listening questions in 35 minutes with the same single-play audio rule, three writing tasks with the actual word counts and time pressure, three speaking tasks with the 2-minute prep window for Task B.
Every mock is followed by a section-wise analysis showing exactly which sub-skills cost you marks.
Structured materials and 250+ hours of listening
We provide a complete TCF-specific resource library. Grammar drills mapped to common exam errors. Reading comprehension passages from past topics. Writing templates for the three task types. And over 250 hours of native French audio across European, Quebec & African accents.
Every resource ties to a section of the exam, so no study time is wasted.
We pace the TCF-based course around your level
Slower learners get extra doubt-clearing sessions and simpler practice tasks at no additional cost. Faster learners get advanced materials, NCLC 8 prep work, additional speaking partners, and more assignments to push beyond CLB 7.
The base curriculum is the same. How we sequence it depends on you, your level, face, and deadline.

Common Questions about the TCF Canada Course
1. What is TCF Canada, and who organizes it?
TCF Canada (Test de connaissance du français pour le Canada) is an official French proficiency test designed specifically for Canadian immigration. The France Éducation International (FEI), an agency of the French Ministry of Education, administers the test. FEI is the same authority that runs the DELF and DALF exams, giving TCF a strong pedagogical lineage.
2. Is TCF Canada accepted by IRCC?
Yes. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada accepts TCF Canada scores for Express Entry, all Provincial Nominee Programs, Quebec selection, and Canadian citizenship applications. The score also qualifies you for IRCC’s French-language category-based Express Entry draws, which run on cutoffs significantly lower than general rounds.
3. What is the minimum TCF Canada score for NCLC 7?
For NCLC 7, you need: 458–502 in Listening, 453–498 in Reading (both out of 699), and 10–11 in Writing and Speaking (both out of 20). All four scores must reach NCLC 7 individually. Your overall NCLC level is set by your weakest section, not your average.
4. How long are TCF Canada results valid?
TCF Canada results are valid for 2 years from the test date. Your PR application must be submitted before this validity expires. If results expire mid-process, you’ll need to retake the full exam. Plan your test date 6 to 9 months before your target application window.
5. Where can I take the TCF Canada exam in India?
In 2026, TCF Canada is conducted in India at three Alliance Française centres: Delhi, Bangalore, and Kolkata. The exam fee in India is approximately ₹26,000. Test dates are typically once or twice a month at each center, and seats fill fast for popular dates. Book at least 6 to 8 weeks in advance through the official Alliance Française portal of your chosen city.
6. How long does the TCF Canada preparation take at LanguageNext?
Total preparation time depends on your starting level. From absolute beginner to NCLC 7, plan 12 to 16 months at an extensive pace, or 8 to 9 months at an intensive pace. If you already have intermediate French (around B1), you can reach NCLC 7 in 4 to 6 months with our exam-focused B2 and TCF prep modules. We assess your level during the demo class and provide you with a realistic timeline before enrolment.
7. Can I retake just one section of TCF Canada?
Sectional retakes are not allowed. If you fall short in any of the four skills, you must retake the entire exam. However, TCF Canada does allow sectional reevaluation for the writing and speaking sections at an extra fee. You can request reevaluation if you believe your productive-skills score does not match your performance on test day.
8. Do you offer offline TCF Canada classes in Noida?
Yes. Our learning center at Sector 18, Noida, has been running TCF Canada batches for over a decade. Students join from across the NCR, including Delhi, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, and Faridabad. Classes run all seven days of the week, with batches scheduled in different time slots and aligned to learner profiles.
9. Do you offer online TCF Canada coaching?
Yes. We run live online TCF Canada classes through Zoom, Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams. The classes are not pre-recorded. You’ll have real-time speaking drills with 4 to 6 batchmates, live grammar correction, and the same trainer, mock tests, and study materials as our offline batches. We also offer a hybrid option for students who want a mix of both.
10. Who teaches TCF Canada at LanguageNext?
Our director and lead trainer is Vikash Gupta, a French teacher with 15+ years of experience preparing students for DELF, DALF, and TCF Canada. Our team includes three certified French trainers, each with 10+ years of teaching experience. We’re a teacher-run institute, which means the people designing your course are the same people teaching it.
11. What teaching method does LanguageNext use?
We teach using the SWIRL method: Speaking, Writing, Interaction, Reading, Listening. Every class touches all five skills, with rotation depending on which TCF section we’re targeting that day. The method is designed for learners who need to think, read, write, and speak French naturally under exam time pressure, not just memorize grammar rules.
12. How do I enroll in the TCF Canada course?
Contact us by phone, WhatsApp, email, or through the website form. We’ll discuss your current level, your NCLC target, and your timeline. You can also book a free 30-minute demo class first to get a feel for the teaching style and ask any questions. Once you’re ready, we help you choose a suitable batch and complete registration and payment.
13. Which is easier to pass, TCF Canada or TEF Canada?
Neither test is “easy,” as both adhere to CEFR. They vary in their formats and scoring methods. Check the difference between TCF Canada Vs. TEF Canada.
Some pick TEF because they find the reading and listening sections easier. Others prefer TCF because they find the writing and speaking sections simpler. This choice depends on personal preference. We prepare and support for both exams.
14. Why should I choose LanguageNext for TCF Canada preparation?
We have expert trainers, structured study, small batches, reasonable fees, flexible scheduling, practical speaking, custom mock sets, and support for TCF Canada exam prep. Since 2014, we’ve been one of Noida’s oldest French institutes, training over 2,000 students and building a strong reputation over the past 12 years.
