If you plan to appear for the French DELF, choosing the right DELF test center is an important step. The Alliance Française network, in association with the French Embassy, the Institut Français, or affiliated organizations, is authorized to conduct tests in various cities in India.
French learners can take the DELF (Diplôme d’Études en Langue Française) or DALF (Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française) exams in major cities. This guide lists every official DELF exam center in India.
Who runs DELF examination centers in India?
Only Alliance Française branches and a few approved partner schools and institutions can organize DELF and DALF. France Éducation International (FEI), the French government body for language exams, issues the diploma.
No private coaching institute, university, or online platform can host the official DELF exam. So check the center on afindia.org before you pay any DELF test fee.
Also, remember, you cannot take the DELF and DALF tests online; you must visit a center in person for both the written and oral sections. The written exam dates are the same, but the speaking DELF test dates vary slightly by center.

How to choose the right DELF test center in India
Use these four filters:
- Distance. You’ll visit the center twice: once for the written exam and once for the oral exam.
- Levels available. Not every AF offers every level in every session.
- Registration deadline. Seats fill fast in places like Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru.
- Oral exam schedule. Some centers run oral exams on weekdays, some on weekends.
Check that your level is offered in your chosen city. Register the moment the window opens. Popular levels like B1 and B2 fill in a few days in metro centers. These are the levels most candidates need for Canada PR and French citizenship.
